UNS Fintech Center Sharing Session with Erasmus+ Program
Fintech Update – The Center for Excellence (PUI PT) Center for Fintech and Banking Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS Fintech Center) held a sharing session with a European Union (EU) representative for Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, and Asia and two managers of Erasmus+ OPTBANK program from Indonesia and France. The sharing session was held online through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform on Friday (21/01/2022) and was attended by participants from various universities in Indonesia. The program was opened by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer.nat Sajidan, M.Si., invited three speakers. The first speaker from UE representative for Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, and Asia, Destriani Nugroho, explained the processes that Indonesian universities need to go through if they were interested in applying for the Erasmus+ program. Mrs. Desrtriani Nugroho also explained the objectives and types of programs funded by the EU for third-country universities. The second speaker came from the manager of Erasmus+ OPTBank program Universite de Limoges, Dr. Ruth Tacneng. As program manager and coordinator for European university partners, Dr. Ruth shared her experiences managing the program with other university partners from Europe and Indonesia. She also shared the criteria for awards provided by the EU for Erasmus+ program implementation. The last sharing was provided by Dr. Putra Pamungkas as the representative from Erasmus+ OPTBank program coordinator for Indonesian university partners. In line with Dr. Ruth’s materials, Dr. Putra also shared his experiences managing the program and the challenges faced during its implementation. He, in particular, emphasized the importance of diversity in university consortiums that want to apply for the Erasmus+ program from the EU. The sharing session was concluded with a questions-and-answers session led by Dewanti Cahyaningsih. This sharing session is expected to benefit the participants and increase the number of Erasmus+ applications from Indonesian universities, considering its significant impacts on educational development, according to Prof. Sajidan’s explanation in his opening remark. “Hopefully, this sharing session could benefit all participants, and they could send an application for the CBHE program,” Prof. Sajidan stated. Chief of UNS Fintech Inaugurated as The Youngest Professor in UNS
Fintech Update – The Chief of Center for Excellence Fintech and Banking Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta or UNS Fintech Center was officially inaugurated as the youngest professor in UNS on Thursday (30/12/2021). Professor Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D., was inaugurated as Professor in Financial Management and the 19th Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and 245th Professor in UNS. In the inauguration ceremony that was held offline and online from the GPH Haryo Mataram Auditorium UNS, Zoom Cloud Meeting, and live broadcast in UNS YouTube channel, Prof. Irwan delivered an inauguration speech on “Finance, Technology, Inclusion and Inequality” that discuss the potential of digital finance and fintech in improving income distribution and financial literacy in the community. Prof. Irwan also mentioned the possibilities of the ‘dark side’ from digital finance and the rampant illegal fintech in Indonesia, which might widen the existing inequality. In the ceremony attended by professors from national and international universities, partner universities, academic members, and family members, Prof. Irwan also emphasized the importance of fintech regulation to prevent the technological development to be abused as a tool that further marginalized the marginalized people. Concluding his inauguration speech, Prof. Irwan delivered his gratitude to all people who have supported and assisted him in achieving the Professor at the age of 37 years old.
