Prof. Siong Hook Law

International Research Fellow

Prof. Siong Hook Law is a faculty member at the School of Business and Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Born on 24 November 1971, he has dedicated his career to teaching and research in Financial Economics, Development Economics, and Applied Economics.

Professor Law is passionate about exploring the economic forces that shape financial systems and development, particularly within the Southeast Asian region. His research and publications have contributed valuable insights to the academic and policy-making communities, enhancing understanding of financial and developmental issues in emerging economies.

He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom in 2005. Prior to that, he completed his Master’s degree in Financial Economics at Universiti Putra Malaysia in 1998, and his Bachelor’s degree in Resource Economics from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia in 1996.

In recognition of his outstanding academic contributions, Prof.  Siong Hook Law was recognised among the World’s Top 2% Scientists (Single Year Achievement, 2024), as listed by Elsevier and Stanford University.

Professor Law is based at the School of Business and Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia, 43400 UPM Serdang, Selangor.
